Vol 3 – Chapter 11: “I ate it very deliciously”
Taeui looked back at the calendar and checked the date, an uncomfortable feeling coming back. He cursed him silently over and over again, but now when he recalls it, he no longer finds the resentment like that first day.
“Okay, what about contact?”
Not knowing if Ilay realized this resentment of his or not, he suddenly asked in a confusing way.
Taeui looked at him bewildered and tilted his head.
“What contact? Ah…ah…right. Okay, thank you. I already received a call. The suit will probably be completed next week. The store manager couldn’t deliver it, so I’ll go pick it up later. After all, outsiders are not allowed in here.”
“I don’t know if express delivery is possible, but shipping it here is already a burden anyway.” Taeui added. But this time, Ilay frowned at what he was saying. Then, as if he finally understood what he was talking about, he muttered “Ah”. But the wrinkles between the philtrum still did not relax.
“No, I’m not talking about the clothes.”
He said with a sigh and raised his white hand to rub his frowning forehead.
“It’s a phone call, a phone call from Jaeui. Didn’t you say that you two would call each other when it’s your birthday?”
“Jaeui? No…. there’s no incoming call…”
Taeui shrugged and shook his head.
There were no calls. Well, it’s true that they didn’t really promise to definitely contact each other on their birthdays, but in reality, it was more like an implicit promise in Taeui and his brother’s own way. And they always find each other on that day. Even if Taeui and his brother both forgot their birthdays, they would contact each other within a few days.
It’s the same when living together, and it’s the same when living apart because of study or work.
“Aren’t you going to contact me this year… Hyung… do you hear me? I want to see you… Where are you?”
Taeui looked up at the ceiling and muttered. It would be nice if he could contact Jaeui first but he has no way to call or know where he is. He can only wait for his brother to contact him first.
Taeui was blankly thinking about his twin brother when he suddenly felt eyes on him. Taeui’s eyes widened. Next to him, Ilay was staring at him. With inexplicably sunken eyes.
OH. he think. There seemed to be no reason for this look but it seemed he had found the real reason. Ilay looked a bit disappointed at this point. Taeui thought it was because he hadn’t received any contact from Jaeui while he was also waiting for news about his brother.
When Taeui looked at him, IIay raised his eyebrows slightly, perhaps his brother was also aware of that. Was it because Taeui knew the truth about that disappointed expression of his?
A little embarrassed, Taeui rubbed his chin, clicked his tongue, stood up straight, leaning back on the chair and asked.
“Does Jae hyung have anything to do with you?”
Ilay was silent for a moment, then answered briefly as if reluctantly.
“To be precise, it’s someone my brother knows.”
“Ah ha”
Taeui nodded. Indeed.
It seems like people looking for Mr. Jaeui are everywhere. Even the man in front of him, a person who doesn’t care about other people’s affairs, cares about Jaeuir’s whereabouts, not to mention other people’s.
Nine times out of 10 all communications with Taeui, even by phone, are related to him.
Taeui sighed.
*************************
After Ilay recovered, Jeong Taeui got sick. IIay often stops by his room two to three times a day. Every time he lay on the bed moaning, Ilay would lean closer as if to check his body condition before leaving.
Until Ilay was able to move normally and return to his busy teaching job as an Instructor, he still often came to Taeui’s room for no reason at all just to say meaningless words. Actually, he didn’t show much during that time, but Jeong Taeui wondered if he was also apologizing?
But in the end, Taeui didn’t ask him about those actions.
Jeong Taeui sighed, he wouldn’t bother or ask anymore because anyway he didn’t expect much from this man’s personality. He has nothing to be angry about. Although it would be a lie to say he didn’t feel his mood lighten up a bit (thanks to his care).
“There was no call…. Anyway, weren’t you trying to check on it?”
Jeong Taeui pointed at the phone, then propped his chin and sighed. Ilay looked at him for a moment with strange eyes and then smiled as usual, it seemed like he had given up something.
“Aren’t you two a very special pair of twins? So I also wonder if there is some unscientific form of communication between you two.”
“Let’s see, if there really is such a thing, I’d like to find out. Surely it would be very useful when taking an exam or interview or something, wouldn’t it?”
Taeui muttered, thinking to himself that if he could communicate with his brother in some divine way like telepathy, then he probably wouldn’t have to fear anything in this world.
Jeong Taeui jumped up from the bed, now he really wanted to drink beer. Maybe he’ll go to his uncle’s room and steal a few cans, if he looks carefully he might even find soju. Even though he’s not a big fan of soju, sometimes drinking a little when you’re in a bad mood isn’t a bad idea.
“But…why do you need to contact my hyung? Do you want something from him? Want to make weapons?”
“But it seems like after he left UNHDRO he didn’t do it anymore.”
His uncle had gone to Australia so of course his room was locked, but Taeui still had the key he gave him in the drawer. He hung it up and started spinning it around his finger.
Taeui looked straight at Ilay and gave what seemed like useful advice.
“Jae hyung, he’s the type of person who will never do what he said he doesn’t want to do. There are also people who try to persuade him because they know he’s a gentle and kind person. But no one succeeds. He’s not someone who can be threatened.”
Taeui added, “Is there any threat that could make someone as extremely lucky as hyung worry?” then prepare to leave the room. However, Ilay still sat on the chair without moving after hearing those words even though he seemed to want to go out with him before.
He looked at Jeong Taeui.
“….”
“I’m going to your room for a moment. Do you want to stay here?”
“……No, let’s go together.”
As Jeong Taeui spoke, Ilay immediately got up and followed him.
“Yeah..His room is right next to Uncle Changin’s room.” Taeui thought and walked towards the elevator. He only walked half a step away from IIay and occasionally met colleagues passing by. As soon as Jeong Taeui saw the two together, he immediately attracted their attention. The colleagues sighed and showed indifferent expressions as if they were too familiar with this image.
After entering the elevator and closing the door, he could finally escape those harsh eyes. Jeong Taeui muttered to himself.
“But if you think carefully, if there is a monster on the enemy’s side, it is natural to fear and hate it. But if it is on our side, shouldn’t everyone be happy to welcome it? After all, our strength is increased thanks to it.”
“It also depends on the monster’s ‘résumé’. Which monster are you talking about?”
Next to Jeong Taeui, Iay gently asked. Taeui felt guilty and could only close his mouth.
After all, for someone who stabbed his teammates multiple times, a monster-like bastard who even used his bare hands to kill his teammates, it certainly doesn’t seem very trustworthy even when he’s standing up towards them.
Furthermore, if you look back at what happened to the European branch, it seems that even the members of that branch could not believe him, and did not dare to stand by his side or give him any respect.
When he thought of that, a nameless sadness suddenly passed through his heart.
He lived a life without being able to confide or confide anything to anyone.
Life is inherently the intersection of relationships between people, where those horizontal and vertical links overlap each other. And at the center of that interconnected circle, this man seemed to be alone. It seemed like he didn’t care about it, he wasn’t even aware of what the feeling of emptiness felt like. Because from the beginning he was like that.
With Ilay Riegrow’s indifferent heart, he could completely laugh at that situation. It seemed that this was also his luck because not knowing meant not needing to care. So Taeui hopes that in the future he will still be able to ignore those feelings, at least it will be more comfortable.
With mixed feelings of joy and sadness, Taeui still smiled and talked to Ilay.
“One day, if you fall from a knife in a dirty alley without anyone coming to your rescue, and die just like that…I’ll be very sad for you.”
Just before the elevator stopped on the first floor, Jeong Taeui muttered. Faced with his curt voice, where it was difficult to tell whether he was comforting or mocking, Ilay showed a strange expression. He looked at Taeui as if he had just heard something unreasonable, then smiled. Surprisingly, Ilay didn’t get angry at all, instead he just laughed out loud as if he heard something funny and said.
“Thank you for that.”
Seeing him respond calmly like that, he wondered if his personality had gradually changed since he came here and was constantly attacked? And is it changing in a good direction? Jeong Taeui thought while waiting for the elevator door to open.
Someone is standing in front of the elevator. Jeong Taeui immediately stopped walking. The 6th floor is a crowded place, so it’s not unusual for this scene to happen, but the 1st floor, where only Instructors live and few people pass by, is also rare.
The person standing in front of him now was Rudolph Jean-Til. He raised his eyebrows for a moment as if he didn’t expect to see him like that, then smiled calmly when he saw the image of the two of them walking side by side.
“You’re going to have a hard time tonight, both of you.”
To the person who greeted him with a polite greeting, Ilay also responded politely.
“Making sure it gets completed without any problems is what I should do.”
According to the authorities, Jeong Taeui was not allowed to intervene in this conversation, so he just stood silently on the side and listened to the conversation like an invisible person.
But he was very surprised when he heard the words that just came out of the man standing next to him.
How could he so calmly say such standard and polite words?
Is it true that when he puts himself in different situations, like when he works or goes to other places, does he pretend to behave like a normal person?
After a short conversation with Ilay, Rudolph turned to look at Taeui, his eyes narrowed slightly.
“Have you gotten used to life here? You can’t see your family often, so you must miss them a lot.”
“Ah…. – I’m not that emotional either. Thank you for your concern.”
Jeong Taeui replied, he remembered his only brother still alive. Lately, a lot of people have been asking about him (and this guy is no exception).
Rudolph said: “Is that so” and smiled, then he peacefully ended the conversation and continued moving forward. IIay and Taeui sent him off politely, both remaining silent until Rudolph’s figure disappeared into the elevator.
“What’s going on these days? Why is everyone constantly looking for my hyung.”
When Jeong Taeui whispered like a grumble, Ilay burst out laughing.
“It’s not just these days, it’s been like that from the beginning. You just don’t know it. Furthermore, currently no one knows his whereabouts, so they have to work even harder to find him.”
“Um… if there’s any news about hyung, my uncle will take care of it and report it.”
Jeong Taeui gently tapped his finger on the elevator door and then turned back. Rudolph, his uncle’s immediate superior, did not know if he was the one who would sit in that empty chair. But he also didn’t care much. Taeui headed to his uncle’s room, thinking about how many cans of beer he should get. Meanwhile, IIay smiled meaningfully and walked next to Taeui, then whispered so softly that he almost couldn’t hear.
“Instructor Changin doesn’t like Rudolph very much.”
Jeong Taeui slowed down a bit. He glanced at Ilay but he didn’t look back. Ilay leisurely and walked forward. The moment their eyes met, he smiled brightly and waved his hand lightly.
“I’m just kidding.”
“…..”
Jeong Taeui shrugged his shoulders as if it didn’t matter. Stories like this never seem to end because there are always hidden meanings within them. Even at military school and in the army.
Well, anyway, there are some subordinates who don’t like their superiors. Jeong Taeui thought slowly.
He quickly walked to the door of Uncle Changin’s room. Ilay’s room was a little further down the same hallway.
Jeong Taeui was taking the key to open the door when he suddenly realized Ilay was still standing next to him. He immediately turned back and asked.
“……Is there anything else?”
After all, this is his uncle’s room, he can’t arbitrarily let others into a room that isn’t even his. Besides, he still has a lot of personal things to do, so he can’t let him in here.
Ilay suddenly smiled and stretched out his hand to lean on the wall behind Taeui, his face also slowly approached him.
Jeong Taeui at this moment was like a sausage sandwiched between two pieces of bread, the wall and Ilay. He frowned slightly. What the hell is he planning to do?
“It seems like your body is fine now.” – Ilay whispered, prolonging the last word full of meaning. Jeong Taeui glared at him.
“You’re able to walk and work without any problems anymore, but it seems like you don’t like ‘it’ very much.”
Ilay laughed and jingled the key in his hand, then began to complain seriously.
“I’ll be very busy with this training from tonight, so now I just want to relax a little. Besides, if we’re apart for too long, you’ll lose the chance to get used to ‘my little guy’.”
“I have no intention of wanting to get used to it.”
Jeong Taeui spoke firmly. Even though he was so used to a life full of difficulties and harshness, this still seemed to be something he couldn’t help but be concerned about. He didn’t know if it was because he was too scared to see a ‘sausage as big as his arm’ in his dream last night or not. Jeong Taeui stiffened when thinking about the days of going to the bathroom with blood stains in the toilet.
Jeong Taeui did not want to and could not see those images again. He definitely can’t be tempted again and do more than he can bear. Jeong Taeui shook his head as he thought about that, he shivered so much that his hair stood on end and glared at the culprit of it all who was laughing as if he was really confused by it.
Ilay said cautiously.
“Jeong Taei, I don’t know why… —It didn’t look too appealing, so I didn’t expect it to taste so good, but your body is a masterpiece after all.”
Jeong Taeui frowned and tilted his head trying to understand what he was hearing.
“What…”
“It was so tight that I even thought I would be swallowed by it. But compared to your appearance of pain and crying until you fainted, I’m more curious about your appearance when you get used to my thing….. .”
Ilay whispered into Taeui’s ear and smiled indecently, then immediately had to lean back when he realized that Jeong Taeui’s hand still holding the key was swinging violently to a position near his temple.
Taeui looked at the man in front of him. It seemed like he had changed from a crazy person to a pervert.
Ilay gently grabbed Taeui’s wrist and walked closer to him. Taeui’s back gradually retreated until it touched the door behind him. He brought Taeui’s hand down to touch the bulge between his pants and started rubbing it.
