Vol 4 – Chapter 11: Last flow 3
Isaac squeezed his eyes shut and opened them. After doing that a few times, the blood washed away and his vision returned. Sure enough, an older man sat in front of him. Around twenty or thirty men stood around Roberni, who sat straight ahead. Looking around, it looked like an abandoned warehouse somewhere. It was probably a communal warehouse in some clustered village.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Isaac’s mind.
“Did you…… drive out all the villagers and stay there……?”
He remembered the men carrying the tiger back to the village, and those who came out to meet them were all their comrades. Then, what about the people who originally lived in that village?
What returned to Isaac’s question were unhesitating punches and kicks.
“Watch your mouth, brat.”
“You should only answer when spoken to, you shouldn’t speak first. Know your place.”
A relentless barrage of brutal punches and kicks rained down upon Isaac’s body as if intent on crushing him in two. In the mere blink of an eye, Isaac had been reduced to a bloodied heap lying crumpled on the dirt. The swelling of both his temples, his broken teeth, and his face torn open and drenched in fresh blood, all of it had unfolded within scarcely a few short minutes. And it didn’t stop there. They even hoisted large logs and repeatedly slammed them down hard upon his body, making it all too understandable that several of his ribs had shattered as a result.
With both hands and feet bound tightly behind his back, Isaac lay limp like a corpse, struggling to draw ragged, labored breaths thick with the stench of fresh blood. In front of such an Isaac, Roberni, who had been sitting quietly and watching with narrowed eyes, leaned over. He tapped Isaac’s temple with the smoking pipe he held in his mouth. At the burning sensation on his skin, Isaac flinched and writhed.
“Admirably worrying about the villagers, so I’ll answer. Don’t be so harsh on him. Ekio, where did you send the original villagers?”
As Roberni asked, the middle-aged man standing beside him bowed and answered.
“No, sir. It was originally empty. I took our boys there a few days ago, and since no one was there, we “No, sir. It was originally empty. I took our boys there a few days ago, and since no one was there, we just used it as a base.”
“Oh ho, really. They formed a village deep in the mountains but must have all left because it was too harsh to live.”
“Yes…… Well, actually, there was food and daily necessities left behind just as if people had been living there until very recently…… I thought the villagers might have gone to play somewhere nearby all together, but they didn’t return.”
The middle-aged man spoke, trailing off slightly as if he found it strange. “Huh, is there a case where they leave the village leaving all the food and belongings behind?” Roberni remarked, finding it peculiar, but seemed to dismiss it as nothing serious.
Hearing those words, Isaac swallowed a groan and gritted his teeth.
It was a village devoured by the witch.
All the people in that village had been eaten by the witch.
“Ah……, perhaps it was the witch’s doing. We’ve been feeling a massive magical presence in this area recently. Though Heilen originally is a land full of vital energy.”
Just then, a short, stout man standing behind Roberni spoke up. The man wrapped in a gray robe wore a belt woven with gold and purple thread. He was a wizard who moved by making personal contracts with people, not belonging to a guild. From his belt hung a pitch-black jade. The mark of a high-ranking wizard.
Is that man the wizard Roberni newly hired?
Looking hazily at the wizard with eyes constantly blurring from blood and sweat, Isaac closed his eyes…… ‘It’s hard. It hurts.’ Even though he had endured countless physical pains over the past few months, as if experiencing a lifetime’s worth all at once, why didn’t he get used to it? Taking shallow breaths, Isaac curled his throbbing body every time he breathed, likely because a couple of ribs had cracked.
“It would be better not to stay long. We don’t know what kind of interference might come in on land where magic operates, and there is a possibility that unexpected things might happen.”
At the wizard’s words, Roberni nodded.
“Right, we don’t know what kind of interference might come. Well…… I’m not a person with much time, so I won’t stick around to be swept away by whatever interference might come. I’ve waited too long coming all the way to this remote place.”
To Roberni clicking his tongue, the middle-aged man bowed his head as if apologetic and said, “I’m sorry, please forgive me, my Lord.” The other men standing next to him did the same. These seemed to be the numerous mid-level executives of Roberni’s gang who had come to Heilen to catch Isaac.
Surrounded by such men, facing Roberni who was accompanied by a wizard, Isaac sighed deeply inside. This might really be dangerous. Perhaps he didn’t need to be depressed about dying by the prince’s hand.
“Now, you pitiful, unlucky brat, let’s console my subordinates who died horribly.”
Roberni leaned his body towards Isaac and spoke lowly. At the same time, he took a long, dagger-like blade handed to him by the subordinate standing next to him, and unhesitatingly plunged it into Isaac’s torso.
*Gasp,* Isaac was in such excruciating pain that he couldn’t even manage to force out a single scream. His body jolted upward, then curled in on itself, trembling violently. The searing, white-hot agony from the gash that had slashed across his waist spread rapidly throughout his entire body like wildfire.
That was nothing more than the beginning; Roberni took the blades his subordinates handed him one by one and stabbed them into Isaac. Pulling them out and twisting them, he chose spots that would give pain without killing and plunged the blades in. Directly with his own hands, slowly.
The screams that burst out occasionally subsided. His body stretched out painfully, unable to even scream. The fluttering movements every time a blade pierced his body also gradually died down.
‘It might be dangerous. I might really die.’
Isaac thought in a fading consciousness due to the pain. Blood pooled thickly under the body collapsed on the floor. He felt his life draining away.
‘……No. Not yet. Not before catching that witch. For now, I have to help him with these eyes.’
Suddenly, Isaac remembered the prince being dragged into the stream, bitten by the vengeful spirit. When dragged by the vengeful spirit with only its head left, he had made eye contact with the prince.
The moment he made eye contact with Isaac, without a hint of change in that expressionlessness despite having teeth firmly planted in his neck and shoulder, the prince had frowned even deeper. What was revealed in the prince’s expression, as he looked at the men surrounding Isaac while being dragged into the stream by the vengeful spirit, was frustration.
“…… Prince Ky, ……will be angry,”
Isaac’s lips parted slightly. That faint sound, closer to a murmur, seemed to have reached Roberni’s ears, as he was bending his body right in front of him. Roberni raised an eyebrow, muttered “Huh?”, and burst into laughter.
“Haha, right, is he the corner you believe in? That if I kill you, he’ll avenge you? Haha, you think you can threaten me with this topic. Yeah, yeah, to antagonize this Roberni, you gotta have that much guts, right.”
Along with that hearty laugh, *Puck,* a sharp pain dug deep into Isaac’s shoulder. Curling his body with a gasp, Isaac closed his eyes, from which cold sweat seeped endlessly.
“Right, he is an amazing person. A very amazing monster. To be able to shake my organization so much all by himself, that cannot be called human. FOR SUCH A HORRIFIC MONSTER TO BE THE ONE TO BECOME KING!”
Roberni shouted. Anger and fury were mixed into his rough laugh at some point. Roberni grabbed Isaac’s hair and pulled him up. He forced the pulled-up head right in front of him.
“Right, even if he’s such a monster, he’s royalty, so no matter who I am, I can’t touch him. The one who did that to my subordinates, the one who drove my pretty daughter to death, it wouldn’t be enough to rip him apart piece by piece alive from head to toe and throw him as dog food! To know who the one who tore her to death is, and not be able to touch him!”
The frantic roar rang piercingly in Isaac’s ears. Roberni, who roared like a wild beast running amok, suddenly stopped talking. Then he looked into Isaac with narrowed eyes.
“……But you are different.”
“——!”
Roberni twisted the blade stuck in Isaac’s waist. Isaac trembled without even making a sound. Roberni brought his face right up to the tip of Isaac’s nose and deliberately clicked his tongue.
“The life of a dog that met the wrong master is bound to be miserable. Pitifully, you met the worst master and will take the heavenly punishment that master should receive instead. How did you end up serving such a cruel and wicked monster? But since that is also your fate for serving the wrong master, resent your master.”
Once again, the sensation of a knife plunging in dug into his body. The blades striking to avoid vital spots so he wouldn’t die easily were suffocatingly painful. Isaac suffered through consciousness that blurred but didn’t break. It would be comfortable if I just lost consciousness.
“Is it painful? It must be painful. But it won’t be even one ten-thousandth of the pain of my daughter and my subordinates who died unjustly.”
Roberni bared his teeth and smiled, spitting it out through his teeth.
“Cry, be in pain, scream, wicked seed! Only then will my poor people be comforted even in the underworld. Heavenly punishment will eventually fall upon that cruel and wicked man too!”
Stretched out to the point where he couldn’t move even when stabbed with a knife, Isaac turned his blurry eyes. Roberni’s hideously smiling face entered his distorted vision. Isaac suddenly laughed a weak, faint laugh. Seeing that laugh, Roberni raised an eyebrow.
“……You shameless gentleman…….”
A faint sound like the wind leaked intermittently from Isaac’s mouth along with a hollow laugh. Roberni stopped laughing and looked at Isaac with narrowed eyes, then brought his ear close to Isaac’s mouth, which barely twitched. Between the rough and thin breaths, a barely audible voice mixed in.
“The number of people your subordinates have harmed so far, the number of people who shed tears of blood…… even if that can’t be the reason she had to die, you shouldn’t act like she was an innocent commoner who died without sin……!”
At the same time as finishing those words, Isaac gathered the last bit of strength remaining in his deathly limp body and lifted his head. He suddenly lurched forward and bit off one of Roberni’s ears just as the man was leaning his face in close. Roberni let out a scream of sheer agony, then violently shoved Isaac, sending him tumbling to the ground. Collapsing onto the cold earth, Isaac’s body felt as limp and heavy as a waterlogged rag. He spat out the severed chunk of ear. Meanwhile, Roberni, clamping one hand over the bleeding stump where his ear had been, howled in frenzied rage and lunged forward, kicking Isaac relentlessly. He kept kicking furiously with his feet, then madly drew the sword still lodged in Isaac’s body and began brandishing it wildly in all directions.
Curling his body, Isaac felt his pain fade along with his consciousness. It’s probably over. He didn’t think he could hold on much longer.
‘Not yet. I still have to give him a little more help.’
Life was draining from his body like sand.
——MANBANG-IE!
Somewhere on the border of unconsciousness and consciousness, the sound of a cat crying was heard.
——THIRD ONE! THIRD ONE!!!
The cat seemed to call urgently. A small presence seemed to be running from far away. Far away, from outside over there. Like tracing Isaac’s traces from far away, light footsteps came running.
And following behind it, heavy footsteps. That familiar presence.
The footsteps approaching from far away reached outside the warehouse.
Isaac looked towards the door with eyes that were neither open nor closed. His blurry vision felt like it would be covered in pitch black at any moment.
Soon the door opened.
*Creak,* entering through the opened warehouse door making a heavy sound, was a huge shadow.
Water drops were falling drippingly at the feet of the shadow completely soaked in water. Next to it, the small shadow that darted in like a guide was the cat. The cat cried in frantic meows.
A huge shadow overlapped over the small shadow. The steps that entered the warehouse stopped abruptly.
It was the prince. The prince stopped in front of the door upon entering the warehouse. His gaze was fixed on Isaac.
Lying on the blood pool pierced by several swords, Isaac made eye contact with the prince. Even in his blurry vision, he could instantly tell that the huge shadow was the prince. He could tell just by his footsteps.
‘You came.’ It would be nice if he could even wave a hand, but his body wouldn’t move. Isaac panted shallow breaths and barely blinked his eyes. But since his eyes were already half-closed, he didn’t know if the prince saw it.
“Oopsie……, I didn’t expect such a noble person to come to such a shabby place…….”
Then Roberni laughed his hollow laugh, stood up from his seat, bent deeply, and greeted.
“It is an honor to meet you, Your Highness.”
The prince, who had been looking only at Isaac without saying a word, lifted his head. Receiving that gaze, Roberni flinched for a moment. It was a chilling gaze that gave him goosebumps. It didn’t seem human.
“I have no more business with you.”
The prince spoke. Even his voice froze the heart chillingly.
“As long as you dragged that witch out, I have no more business with you. I don’t care what you did where,”
The prince’s gaze fell on Isaac again. This pale face without a drop of blood looked completely dead.
“But you shouldn’t have touched him. He still had his uses.”
The prince took a step closer. Another step, and then another step. The prince’s terrifying gaze was only on Isaac. However,
“I cannot do that, Your Highness. As you know, this atrocious man went around killing so many of my subordinates, so I must collect the appropriate debt from him. You cannot interfere with this, even if it is you.”
Roberni blocked Isaac’s front and moved his steps. Behind him, the wizard who received his glance stood.
The prince’s gaze shifted to Roberni. A voice entirely devoid of emotion stated low.
“Then it will end with your death.”
“You must not do that. I am Roberni. From the back alleys of the capital to the huge markets, countless things maintain balance because of me and my people. If something suddenly happens to me, no one will be able to rule my people, and the capital will lose the order and balance it has maintained and fall into chaos. ——Also,”
Roberni gave a glance to the wizard standing behind him. The wizard unhesitatingly recited a spell, and soon the air began to waver in front of where Roberni stood. The wavering air, like a haze rising, split the space between the prince and Roberni as if striking a wall.
“I must finish my business without being disturbed by anyone.”
Roberni twisted the corners of his mouth and smiled. At the same time, he pulled out a blade stuck in Isaac’s body and plunged it in again just like that. *Puck, as the blade dug deep with a sound, Isaac’s body fluttered once more.
The prince’s eyes froze chillingly. The prince, drawing his sword, walked straight to Roberni and swung the sword——the sword touched the air wavering like a haze and bounced off with a *Clang!* as if striking an iron wall.
The prince’s complexion hardened. He thrust the sword again, but this time too, the sword was blocked halfway. Repeating it was the same.
“The wizard I newly hired has quite excellent abilities. Especially building walls that no physical attack can pass through is this friend’s greatest specialty. No matter what famous sword or divine sword in the world you bring, you won’t be able to pierce this wall built with magic.”
Roberni laughed, looking straight at the prince. And plunged the blade in once more.
“I don’t know why Your Highness, who doesn’t even know how to look back at others, came all the way here, and Your Highness wouldn’t bat an eye at this man dying miserably taking the blame, but this is the death of the one who angered me, Roberni.”
With those words, Roberni’s blade penetrated Isaac’s chest. Taking a breath, Isaac’s body stiffened. The prince’s sword cleaved the air, but the sword was blocked by the wall of air.
Beyond that wavering wall, Isaac saw the prince. He had never seen such a terrifyingly hardened face before. Swinging the useless sword a few times or dozens of times, cutting the necks of the men surrounding him like a bundle of straw, the prince was looking at Isaac with wide eyes.
‘……Is it not going to work. Is this the end.’
Isaac closed his blurry eyes. His mind faded far away. Now the thought that it was really the end entered his mind.
‘Then at least for the last time. Hoping to leave even one clue that might be helpful to him.’
Isaac thought of Alikisa. Where she was and what she was doing. He tried hard to gather his rapidly scattering consciousness.
Soon, *Ba-dump,* the sensation of his heart beating.
As if his body, with life draining out and almost no stamina left, was overloaded, his heart suddenly beat wildly. His eyes grew hot as if burning, and his pitch-black vision spun dizzily.
The distorted vision, like marbling, faintly brightened. And what appeared before him was a dark forest.
It was the witch’s vision. The witch was walking through a dense forest thickly overgrown with bushes. In the tree forest, which had grown so densely it was hard to walk between them, a darkness that even wild animals would hesitate to enter lay lurking. And as she went into that darkness, there was a massive tree hanging its roots on a huge rock.
The witch standing in front of it murmured a spell low. An eerie spell that seemed to vibrate the air of the forest hovered in place. Before long, the rock began to shake. *Bam, bam,* the rock was pushed back bit by bit, as if retreating on its own. Just about three or four handspans. Only after moving that much did the rock stop, and in its place, a pitch-black hole was pierced as if the ground opened its mouth.
The witch entered the hole without hesitation. The narrow hole widened as she went inside, and by the time she walked dozens of steps, it had widened as much as a spacious cave. As she walked dozens of steps further into the pitch-black cave, she came outside, and there——was a pond.
A pond covered in deep blue moss, without any path entering from the outside, untouched by any footstep.
On the calm surface of the water, a waning moon was reflecting. The moon shatters and scatters as the witch steps into the pond, making the water surface ripple.
Step by step, the witch walked into the pond. Submerged up to her knees, to her thighs, and by the time she was submerged to her waist, light faintly began to seep out from the water. She had begun to flow vital energy into the water. That faint light grew stronger and soon became as clear as the moonlight.
Right then.
‘——YOU WERE WATCHING……!’
Suddenly the witch screamed as if she would tear apart.
‘YOU SAW……! YOU SAW……!’
The scream echoed boomingly in his head. Isaac frowned his closed eyes. Even his body hunched further. The sound of the witch screaming and shouting madly pierced his eardrums.
It felt like shaking his entire head. The scream and curse flew intact and rang terribly as if rummaging through his head. His vision was dizzy. Sparks flashed and splashed in his eyes.
‘I won’t let you be, I won’t let you be……! Where are you! Half-blood, where are you……!’
The sound of the witch chanting a spell rang terrifyingly in his ears. A pitch-black wind rose. A whirlwind rose, and the wind began to swirl up terrifyingly. The wind that soared into a fierce tornado took on the form of a monster while spinning wildly with a terrifying momentum. A massive, transparent snake-like form with a long tail coiled, searching for a victim.
‘WHERE ARE YOU, HALF-BLOOD……!!!’
The witch’s piercing voice pierced his eardrums.
‘No. I have to open my eyes. I have to open my eyes right now. I must not have my tail stepped on by that witch.’
Instinct was warning Isaac. ‘I have to open my eyes’——but his eyes wouldn’t open, as if his tail was caught just as he was about to run away.
WHERE ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU.
The whirlwind soared even more massively, and the snake’s form became even more ferocious. The massive trees around the pond rippled violently as if they would all be uprooted.
His head boiled. It felt like it would burst. Isaac curled his body and held his breath without even being able to scream.
ISAAC! It seemed someone was calling. Someone’s familiar voice. But being called so urgently was unfamiliar, hearing it for the first time.
‘I have to open my eyes. Quickly. I have to open my eyes quickly. Before getting caught.’
Cold sweat seeped from Isaac’s entire body as he struggled with all his might. His head heated up terrifyingly and boiled. His entire head felt like it was boiling.
Boiling, boiling, and at some point burst explosively.
——YOU WERE THERE……!
Dragging a long scream, suddenly his vision went pitch black.
“——!!”
As though struck directly by a bolt of lightning, Isaac jolted awake, his eyes flying open. He quickly realized he was lying motionless on the ground inside the dilapidated storehouse, right at Roberni’s feet. At the same time, he also became acutely aware that the scorching vital energy within his body was rapidly dissipating entirely, and his life, too, was swiftly approaching its end.
Through his vision blurred with fresh blood, the first image that met his eyes was the prince. Still standing on the other side of the wavering, unsteady magical barrier, the prince fixed his bloodshot eyes on him without once looking away. No, that face, hardened into a cold, rigid mask like a stone statue…… it looked so terrifying that Isaac felt as though this was no longer the prince he had once known.
‘……Beneath a large rock anchored by tree roots, a cave——.’
Isaac barely managed to murmur. Without even a sound coming out, he could only move his lips, desperately praying that that person would understand. He didn’t even have the energy left to whisper it a second time.
“What’s this? Having spasms right before you die?”
Looking down at Isaac, whose body twitched for a moment, Roberni frowned. He raised the jagged blade high above Isaac’s head.
“Let me make sure you can’t move anymore. ——Fall into hell.”
It was just as Roberni muttered, putting strength into the hand gripping the knife. Suddenly.
*Rumble, rumble.*….., the ground seemed to shake. The floor trembled faintly, *rattle, rattle,* and the materials inside the warehouse shook or bumped into each other.
“What is this suddenly……. An earthquake?”
Roberni looked around, his face contorted. An earthquake in the mountains could easily cause a landslide. This was no ordinary situation.
“That can’t be……, An earthquake in Heilen……. In a land this full of vital energy…….”
The wizard muttered as if it made no sense. While he looked around, unable to figure out the reason,
A massive roar approached from afar.
A magnificent, furious presence was sweeping through the forest in this area, surging forward. The sound of trees snapping and falling drew closer in an instant.
“What is that outside……, It sounds like a typhoon…….”
Just as Roberni muttered with a crumpled face. As the sound, crashing in at a terrifying speed, arrived right at their doorstep, the doors of the warehouse shattered. It wasn’t just the doors.
Almost half of the old, wooden warehouse from the entrance. and was blown away as the building was destroyed, and a ferocious wind rushed in.
No, it wasn’t wind.
That transparently visible, wind-like entity took the shape of a massive snake, large enough to fill the abandoned warehouse. That ferocious snake smashed through the warehouse and filled the interior.
Everything was swept up in the whirlwind. Shattered debris, dead bodies strewn about, and fallen weapons alike.
“A-A curse……!”
The wizard shrieked in horror, his eyes wide open.
The men, desperately clinging to sturdy pillars hammered deep into the ground so as not to be swept away, were brutally pushed back by the wind.
The wall of air wavering like a haze shuddered. The wind hadn’t battered against the space behind it, but the tremors in the ground were growing steadily more violent.
The ferocious whirlwind tore through the warehouse. As if searching for something, the wind ravaged every corner, obliterating the interior before finally making contact with the haze.
*WOOOOONG——* the haze was pushed back. At the same time, the pale-faced wizard gasped for breath.
“H-How can it be this powerful, ——it’s a witch, a witch’s curse…….”
The wizard mumbled, his blue-tinged lips trembling. Every strand of his hair stood on end. Veins bulged prominently all over his body. But human strength was no match for a witch.
“——.”
*BOOM!!!* with a loud impact that couldn’t be heard but only felt, the haze shattered and scattered. Vomiting a mouthful of dark blood, the wizard collapsed and rolled on the ground, and the space behind the scattered, vanished haze was instantly engulfed by the furious whirlwind.
The colossal snake, its body formed of a whirlwind, found Isaac. As if that alone was the snake’s purpose, it opened its massive jaws and lunged straight at Isaac. Isaac saw the transparent yet ferocious form baring long, sharp fangs as it rushed at him in an instant. At the edge of his vision, he also saw the prince drawing his sword with a terrifying face and rushing in.
*Slash,* the prince’s blade cut the snake. However, the snake’s body merely passed through the sword as uselessly as a breeze. Even when slashed and stabbed multiple times, it was the same.
——I hate you, I hate you, I hate you……!
From somewhere, another voice overlapped.
The vengeful spirit tangled in the witch’s curse belonged to the wizard the witch had possessed. Now, only the vengeful spirit remained amidst his fading life, entirely devoid of reason and intellect.
Within that tearing curse and horrifying vengeful spirit, the snake struck Isaac, and
*Crunch.*
Its long, ferocious fangs lodged deep into Isaac’s heart. A huge hole was pierced in the heart that belonged half to a human and half to a witch. Gushing blood dyed the whirlwind snake.
Right at that moment, it seemed a long, horrific scream was suddenly heard. The death cry of the young wizard, full of resentment and curses.
And then——the whirlwind that had raged madly inside the warehouse subsided simultaneously, as if it had been a lie. The menacing wind vanished, and the objects flying in the air plummeted and rolled on the floor.
A sudden end to the commotion.
A quiet stillness.
Within it, Isaac stood frozen.
The snake that had lodged its fierce fangs deep into Isaac’s heart scattered slowly, very slowly. As if the wind was mixing into the air.
——He’s dead.
——That human wizard has drawn his last breath.
A faint cat meow mixed into the scattering wind.
Isaac felt his heart give a loud thump. As the heart pierced by sharp fangs beat strongly, blood surged out over it.
Experiencing all those sensations vividly, Isaac felt something dwelling deep within his soul shatter into a hundred fragments and disappear. Something was vanishing entirely. Something tied to Isaac’s heart scattered away.
Along with it, his eyes suddenly became as hot as if on fire. Something inside his fiercely burning eyes was scorched away, as if leaving only ashes behind.
Within that sensation, Isaac instinctively realized without anyone teaching him.
‘Ah, so that’s it. That was it. I can’t do it anymore. With a shattered heart, I can no longer see the witch. That wizard took my heart away as he drew his last breath.’
“ISAAC!!!”
The sound of someone screaming his name echoed faintly from afar. He struggled to force open his shut eyes, but his eyelids now felt as heavy as a thousand pounds. Through the narrow slit between his tightly closed lashes, he saw the face of the man who was frantically rushing toward him.
‘Strange. He’s not someone who would wear such a panicked face.’
Perhaps his fading consciousness was seeing things wrong.
“…… my eyes……, i can’t use them anymore.”
Isaac barely parted his lips. No sound came out, but the man who had come right in front of him probably understood.
‘I can’t be of help to you anymore.’ The regretful whisper he couldn’t even part his lips for anymore vanished in his mouth.
Under heavy eyelids that felt like they would never open again, Isaac thought with a rapidly blurring mind, ‘Will I be able to open these eyes again? It would be nice if I could see again. If I could just see this man one more time.’ Now, that was his only regret.
However, his consciousness fell faintly just like that, and Isaac ended up letting go of everything—consciousness, regrets, and all. Beyond the senses shutting down in pitch darkness, he felt like he heard the faint sound of a cat crying……
